Job Title: Development Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Full-time exempt, 40 hours per week with some nights and weekends. (Hours can be flexible to meet your needs). 

Overview: The Development Director is responsible for maximizing the fundraising capacity of Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity. Key responsibilities include grant writing, sponsorship procurement, and prospecting, relationship building, solicitation and stewardship of individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations and foundations. This leadership position will also provide coaching and philanthropy training to affiliate staff & Board Members.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Annual Giving Activities (45%)

  • Develop relationships with Board members and engage them in fundraising activities
  • Prospect, develop relationships, solicit and steward major individual donors, business/corporate donors, civic organizations and foundations
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop a cost-savings, donation or sponsorship strategy for vendors of the affiliate and ReStore
  • Maintain the mailing list, letter and accompanying materials for the end of year appeal
  • Oversee and develop third-party fundraising and online giving efforts
  • Grow relationships in the faith sector in an effort to secure donations for an annual Faith Build
  • Supervise gift entry and thank you letter process

Grant Writing (25%)

  • Write all organizational grants and funding proposals, submit post-funding reports and work with affiliate or ReStore staff to ensure grants are expensed as they were written
  • Maintain a current grant calendar with prospects, pending requests, submission deadlines and report deadlines

Special Events (15%)

  • Lead efforts for sponsorship procurement for National Women Build Week and Repurpose for a Reason events
  • Serve as a fundraising coach for 100+ National Women Build Week participants as they engage in peer-to-peer fundraising to reach their fundraising goals
  • Actively participate and work together with Event committees to support the funding goals established for Habitat events.

Supervision (10%)

  • Supervise the Marketing & Development Associate to include creation of goals, coaching & development and the completion of an annual performance appraisal

Other Duties (5%)

  • Create and oversee the budget for fund development revenue and expenses
  • Lead Fund Development Committee meetings, prepare agendas, reports and evaluation of fundraising efforts
  • Attend Faith Relations and Finance committee meetings

Job Requirements including Desired Skills, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum and 3+ years demonstrated fundraising or sales experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including grant writing experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and grants while meeting deadlines and achieving organizational outcomes
  • Demonstrated skills in building and maintaining effective relationships
  • Strong interest in working in the non-profit sector and supporting the mission, vision and strategic direction of Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Documents, Gmail and CRM database software
