Manager, Relationship Events

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Relationship Events leads the strategy, development and implementation of Chapter relationship events including the annual Purple Gala, Round to Remember and Reason to Hope program. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding volunteers and donors to ensure the success of the Association’s fundraising efforts. This position is also a staff co-liaison to the Association’s Young Champions. 

This position is based in Green Bay, WI and reports to the Executive Director. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Purple Gala:

  • Develops and manages the annual plan, budget, strategic planning and implementation of the chapter’s annual Purple Gala
  • Recruits gala committee members, manages the gala committee as the staff lead and works with volunteers to achieve gala attendance and fundraising goals
  • Leads the gala sponsorship effort and fundraising strategies and works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to identify prospects, create proposals, fulfill benefits and steward sponsors year-round by planning various wrap-around and cultivation events
  • Works with the Executive Director, Board members, committee members, and other development staff to create long-term, beneficial relationships with those who attend and/or support the gala
  • Works with the Executive Director, Development Director and Marketing Manager to develop and ensure Association branding and messaging are consistent for this event
  • Recruits and supervises a special event intern(s) and provide opportunities for them to have a meaningful learning experience and adequate responsibility

 Round to Remember:

  • Develops an annual plan and budget for the Association’s Round to Remember event
  • Recruits committee members, manages the committee as the staff lead and works with volunteers to achieve attendance and fundraising goals
  • Leads the golf outing sponsorship effort and fundraising strategies and works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to identify prospects and create proposals with marketing manager
  • Works with the Executive Director, Board members, committee members, and other development staff to create
  • long-term, beneficial relationships with those who attend and/or support the golf outing 

Other:

  • Develops and recruits a Young Champions group. Cultivates and stewards relationships with members to engage them in volunteer activities, educational opportunities and events and to encourage their personal financial support, group fundraising and advocacy participation
  • Cultivates and stewards relationships with assigned current and potential donors and volunteers to secure volunteer service, event participation and/or financial support
  • Provides assistance and support to other Association special events and donor relations activities as needed
  • Manages development specialist 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of experience in relationship development, fundraising, volunteer engagement and event planning
  • Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to partner internally and externally to lead, motivate, train and work comfortably with volunteers
  • Able to organize material and information so it is accessible and user-friendly
  • Flexible, creative, resourceful and independent to work in fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
  • Willing to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Ability to sell the Chapter’s mission, programs and services to a variety of audiences, including corporate management, individual donors and volunteers
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attention to detail
  • Ability to memorize, diagnose and solve problems
  • High level of enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
  • Possess valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and move about to retrieve files
  • Ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs. bend and stoop
